Summer is slowing down, fall is creeping in, and kids are going back to school. It is with great emotion that I write this edition
of the Even Paw.
After almost four years at Bear Trail, our greatly loved and respected General Manager, Barry Day, is stepping down and
moving forward in life with his lovely wife Rhonda. To be honest, words cannot capture the essence of Barry Day. Words
cannot express the honor and gratitude I feel when I look back on the time I have worked with him. It is with great respect that
I wish him well and express thanks for all he has done. Barry, your leadership, pizzazz, and yes, even your harmonica playing
and Christmas song singing will be greatly missed. I feel I speak for everyone here at the course when I say, you have truly
been an inspiration and, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
Barry has left some big shoes to fill, however I am excited to report that a new man is slipping into them quite nicely. I would
like to introduce our new Golf Professional and General Manager Doug Lisle. Doug is still settling in and getting down to
business, but please don't hesitate to extend your hand and introduce yourselves if you see him in the pro shop or around
the course. We appreciate all our members continued support in the change-over.

Don't think I forgot about other business. The Luau this year went off without a hitch. We were missing a few important faces
(Mr. Billy Elston, I missed your hula dancing), however there was plenty of fun, complete with a dance off. Special thanks go
out to Joe and Dwight Sholar for cooking one good pig, Mr. Kenny Flanagan (owner of Kenny's Quick Service and
Flanagan's Pub) for contributing sponsorship to provide drinks on the course, also Robert Mills, Paul Buchanan, and Judy
Herringdine for helping decorate and prepare food.

Just because fall will be upon us shortly don't get complacent. Our annual Match-Play is starting up at the end of August and
Tom Orr will be defending his title (when he's not defending the pink rims on his car). Match-play will start on August 30th and
the cut-off date for sign-ups is Monday August 23rd at closing time. Cost is $15 per player.

Speaking of closing times... with summer winding down, we have recently changed our hours:
Last 18 hole cart: 5:00pm
Last 9 hole cart: 6:00pm
Pro Shop closes: 7:30pm
All carts due in by: 8:00pm

As the light declines, our hours do as well. Please don't hesitate to call with questions.

A few parting notes:
Congratulations to Mr. Douglas "Matt" Bowman on winning our second round of the Hole in One Prize Fund. Apparently
"cave-man" turkey legs at the turn really do improve your game.
Before the weather turns cold, we will be aerating again on September 8th.

One last shout from Barry that he asked me to include.

"I want to thank every member of the staff, as well as the owners and each and every member of Bear Trail Golf, for the
fabulous way you have treated my family and me over the past three years. Thanks also for the wonderful going away and
newspaper advertisement. Rhonda and I are looking forward to being active members at Bear Trail and after a short move
next year - we are excited about the potential to come back here and continue our membership. The golf course is a
success because of each of you and the friends you have brought to the course. I am very excited to turn the course over to
Doug Lisle and look forward to assisting him for a few weeks into transition and being available whenever possible. But I
assure you all, in a couple of DAYS - he will be on his feet and Bear Trail will continue to excel. I know Doug and his
capabilities and I hope you will give him the same support you have given us over the years.
